About: Content on this Website
This website was created with the same point-and-click tools you will be using. Per our guidelines, we created the original document in a word processor. If you do not have one, you can get a great FREE word processor from OpenOffice.org. We then copy and paste our documents into the WYSIWYG editor. Finally, we use the features of the editor to format the final content the way we want it to appear on your website. For more information on the process, you can read our WYSIWYG Editor Guidelines document.
Some of the things that can be done with this editor include:
- Creating Lists of things (as in this example)
- Enhancing text
- Bold & Italic
- Font (typeface)
- Font Size
- Color
- Formatting the page (as in this example)
- Creating links to other places (as in this example)
- Creating Email Links (as in this example)
The most important thing to remember is to make you page content as clear and easy to read and understand as possible.
About: Menus on this Website
One of the features available to our Small Business members is the ability to turn the top level menu off when they need. This is useful if like us, you have too many top-level menu items to fit on the page. While it is not likely that this will happen for most websites, the feature is there nonetheless. Some people may just prefer not to have a top-level menu.
About: The About Page
The "About" page is a free-form page with up to three content sections. This page can be chosen by any customer who has an available page.
The About Page, just like the History pages allows you to place a lot of content on each page. While there is no limit to the number of words or letters, you need to be aware that a very lengthy page will turn some visitors off. Most people will NOT be interested in a lot of reading. This page is too long already.
About: The number of pages
You may have noticed that this website not only has a lot of pages, some of them appear to be redundant. In all reality, no one would ever use the pages on this website as we are using them. For example, you would not have an Hours page, a Contact page and an hours & Contact page on the same site. We have them here so that you can see the options available to you. Most of you will use the combined Hours & Contact page unless you have a lot of contacts in your business.
We have also created a number of apparently non-related pages again, for the purpose of demonstration only. We used the graphics which we created for previous websites purely as examples of what you can do with your own website. There may not be an example that fits your own business but we believe that you can see how you can use the tools we provide to fit your needs.
